David began his martial arts journey 25 years ago at age 15. David is unique in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts in that he has a multi-faceted approach to Martial Arts. David spent his early years studying Jeet Kune Do. He achieved his black belt (phase 4/level 8) in JKD before entering the BJJ arena. David is a black belt in BJJ and has been a avid coach and competitor for many years. He is a veteran of over 100 Jiu Jitsu matches. He has BJJ black belts under both Dustin Denes and Tac Team. In 2010, David won the NAGA world championships. He is a IBJJF American National Champion, and has won numerous State Championships. Where David shines the most is in his ability to coach champions. David’s Competition team, “Vava Jiu Jitsu” most recently won the overall championship team at the IBJJF Kansas City Open Tournament. David has coached multiple IBJJF world champions, Pan American Champions, and American National Champions. David’s wife, Brooke is a IBJJF masters world champion. David leads the most winning Jiu Jitsu School in the Kansas City Metro Area. David is an incredible instructor, who can break complicated martial arts concepts down so that anyone can learn from him.
